The Armenian National Committee of America, Hollywood Chapter, is proud
to introduce Congressman Adam Schiff to the Hollywood Armenian-American
community in a Town Hall on the evening of Sunday, January 15th.
The new lines drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission
have included Hollywood in Schiff's new district.
"The Town Hall is an opportune moment for the leaders and members
of the Little Armenia and Hollywood communities to approach the
Congressman with their concerns and questions," said ANCA-Hollywood
chairman Paul Seradarian.
The ANCA-Hollywood is calling on members of the Hollywood
Armenian-American community, one of the oldest and most storied in Los
Angeles, to have a strong presence at the Town Hall so that they may
meet the congressman and use the opportunity to discuss any prevailing
issues with him.
"We urge anyone who has an interest in the Little Armenia/Hollywood
community to attend, as only a diverse group of attendees would
accurately represent the Hollywood constituency and signal to the
congressman the wide range of issues that have been afflicting
Hollywood residents for too long," said board member Tereza Yerimyan.
Armenian-American political activists, members of neighborhood
councils, business leaders and entrepreneurs, students from local
Armenian and public schools, and older residents who use community
services are all urged to attend.
The newly established California Citizens Redistricting Commission,
which oversees redistricting in California, redrew congressional
district lines and, with regular input by the ANCA-Western Region at
public hearings, incorporated Little Armenia and East Hollywood into
the district that Congressman Schiff, if reelected, would represent.
"For years now, Congressman Schiff has stood by the Armenian American
communities he serves, sponsoring the Armenian Genocide Resolution
in the House and supporting us on a host of other issues. Meeting
him, sharing with him concerns particular to our Hollywood Armenian
community, and introducing him to our community is certainly exciting
for us," said ANCA-Hollywood board member Srbui Karapetian.
