YEREVAN.- Iran's threats and warnings can be considered as a response
to the sanctions, expert in Oriental studies Mher Baghdasaryan told
journalists on Thursday.
He recalled that the world community has no proofs that Iran possesses
nuclear weapons. Baghdasaryan stressed that military confrontation
will lead to catastrophic consequences for the entire region which
is advantageous neither to U.S., nor Europe, Russia or China.
"We cannot rule out such developments as the region is really
unpredictable. However, I think that there are not many chances that
a military conflict will break out," he said.
Pentagon Chief Leon Panetta recently named the limiting line, after
which Washington would be prepared to use force against Tehran.
Panetta said U.S. would not allow closing of the Strait of Hormuz
by Iran.
