MOSCOW. - Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement is possible not
through ultimatum but compromise, deputy head of international affairs
committee at Russia's State Duma Kostantin Kosachev said on Wednesday.
"Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is one of the serious ones in post-Soviet
area. Meanwhile, each state has its strong arguments for its own
benefit," the MP said.
According to him, there are a few states enjoying trust of all
conflicting sides, Russia is among them. There are states, which
hold either pro-Armenian or pro-Azerbaijani position. Russia's
position is always to achieve a compromise which would satisfy all
the conflicting sides.
The agreement to settle the conflict should be first of all be
elaborated, agreed and approved by Armenia and Azerbaijan and people
living in Nagorno-Karabakh, the MP stated.
