Renowned American writer Epton Sinkler said once: "It is hard to
make someone do something if his salary is beyond the limits of
understanding it". Mister Prescott's recent behavior reminded me
of this.
Everything is possible to understand, and his nervous tensions and
his tiredness of this country and his attitude, which resulted from
his too high self-conscience.
His importance, by the way, was raised by the Government and
high-ranking officials of our country. We can even endure his 'hitting
on the table' with a smile and forgive his aggressive debates with
oppositional figures.
But when a representative of an international organization runs to the
president of that country and complains about the opposition and that
he was not asked questions he would love to answer, must be given a
lot of thought.
This means that own or prompted opinion of the Armenian society will
meet with sympathetic attitude of international establishments and
make some impression only among a limited circles.
But as soon as you turn to this issue, solutions of which can affect
on Armenian political climate, lead to real reformations, improvement
of authorities etc., push far with both hands, hit the table and run
to the authorities to complain.
That's the reason they didn't pay much attention to the demands of
publishing the real list of the elections, that's why they ignore our
demands to higher the role of oppositional power in the monitoring
institutions and that's why they got angry from the elimination of
majoritarian electoral system.
They don't understand us; Epton Sinkler once explained why.
