Nagorno Karabakh issue is under the world forces' concentration during
these days. On January 23 Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents
will meet to discuss the NK issue settlement process and possible
progress on the theme. Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents
met on June 24 inKazanfor the last time to discuss the same issue.
International society had some expectations from this meeting, but
nothing significant was gained in this meeting. As Armenian Minister
of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan announced then a document was
agreed to be signed but Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev offered
ten changes on the last minute and of course nothing was signed. Some
expert considered even that D. Medvedev is disappointed with the sides
and would stop his mediation in this issue. But the sides will meet
with the same format once more. Some analysts find that on January
23 Dmitry Medvedev is just holding a farewell meeting and nothing
significant must be expected from this meeting. May be it is so and
be not. Armenian and Russian MFAs met yesterday inMoscowto discuss
the preparations of the meeting. Russian and Azerbaijani MFAs will
also meet today with the same purpose, Azerbaijani media inform.
"Russia intends to continue its efforts to assist in addressing the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including within the OSCE Minsk Group. The
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will also take part at the presidents'
meeting inSochi," Lavrov announced.
USA ssistant Secretary of State Robert Blake and Russian Deputy
Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin held also referred to the NK issue
during the consultations on the Central Asian problems inWashington,DC.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announces during every possible
occasion that Artskh will be conquered by military force. Azerbaijani
snipers kill Armenian soldiers on the border and after this Aliyev
goes to have negotiations. Moreover, Azerbaijani President announces
that his country agrees with the international law principles when
he breaks those points of law during his every speech.
