BAKU. - The appeal for the Soviet Troops' entrance to Baku in January
1990 was signed by current Azerbaijani PM Arthur Rasizade, Azerbaijan's
former Internal Affairs Minister Iskander Hamidov announced.
According to the publications in Azerbaijani opposition press, while
investigating the January 20, 1990 events which took place in Baku,
it came out that Eldar Hasanov was awarded for the troops' active
promotion to Baku. After Heydal Aliev came to power Eldar Hasanov
was assigned as Attorney General and was promoted to colonel.
"It was during Aliev-senior's ruling time that law enforcement
officials were awarded," Azadliq writes.
As it is known on January 19, 1990 Azerbaijan's National Front
organized and realized pogroms against the Armenian population of Baku.
