FRENCH SENATOR NATALI GOULET: "ADOPTION OF THIS BILL WILL HAVE HEAVY CONSEQUENCES FOR THE FRENCH DIPLOMACY"

French Senator Natali Goulet having a speech at the discussions of
the bill criminalizing so called "Armenian genocide," blamed ruling
party of misusing the bill for their favor on the eve of presidential
    elections.

"It is clear that adoption of this bill is just a game for the
elections. Why don't we leave history for historians? Should we
adopt all the "genocides" in the world? In this way other peoples
also will demand on adoption of similar bills. Armenians are talking
about genocide, but for the objective studies of this issue they hide
archives and do not want to make public. Besides, Adoption of this
bill will have heavy consequences for the French diplomacy. Today
Armenia next to authoritarian and totalitarian regimes of Iran and
Russia has territorial claims against Azerbaijan, devoted ally of
Europe. Armenia occupied territories of this country and massacred
hundreds of people in Khojaly region of Azerbaijan. Recently, Nicola
Sarkozy paid visits to the South Caucasus states. For some reason
French president didn't give the same attention to these states. He
stayed a day in Armenia laid a wrath on the monument for the "victims
of Armenian genocide, but stayed for 2-3 hours in Azerbaijan and
didn't visited Martyr's Avenue. Such an attention is not earning
    prestige for the French diplomacy".
