Azerbaijani Parliamentary Legal Policy and State Building Committee
member Azay Guliyev said Tehran's commitment to relations with Yerevan
can be explained by two factors.
On the one hand, Armenia is looking for a way out of the difficult
economic situation, in which the country finds itself as it left away
the trans-regional energy and other projects, he said.
"In this case, Armenia welcomes Iran's support. On the other hand,
Iran wants to demonstrate that international sanctions taken against
the country will not affect other states' attitude. The situation
around Iran worsens, and in such a situation, Tehran is ready to
co-operate and even expand ties with Armenia. While, the country
should not expect economic benefits from this," he said.
