Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey is preparing to take decisive steps against
France, whose Senate passed a law criminalizing denial of "genocide"
of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-1917.
Today in Baku Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic has stated
that the decision of the French parliament is a kind of political game
that has become a stain on the French people, who did not deserve this.
"This is disrespect to Turkey, and it contradicts human rights,
freedom of speech and expression. We, as representatives of the
Turkic world, do not endorse this decision and believe that France's
politics, who are not historians, have no right of confutation of
Turkish history. We'll apply to court and by court's decision this
measure will be eliminated. It will promote to the growth of hatred and
hostility among nations and it is worth for France to think of that. We
appreciate the statements of the President of Azerbaijan and the
political circles of the country in support of the Turkish position,
and this reaction has confirmed once again that we are two brotherly
states, and we thank Azerbaijan for its support," Kilic emphasized.
The law criminalizing denial of the "genocide" of Armenians has not
been signed by the President of France yet.
"Against the background of ignoring the recent historical fact
of Armenian terror, which resulted in the occupation of 20% of
Azerbaijani territory, violation of rights of 1 million Azerbaijanis,
Khojaly tragedy, the decision on the events occurred 100 years ago,
where France was one of the sides of the historical conflict, raises
question of the objectivity of France," Kilic stated.
