Association of Parliamentary Journalists (APJ) of Azerbaijan has
appealed to the French colleges with regard to the adoption of the
law criminalizing the denial of so-called "Armenian genocide" by the
French senate, APJ told Trend on Wednesday.
It is stated in the information that the purpose of the appeal is to
achieve solidarity with journalists' associations and representatives
of certain media that operate in this country in order to protest
against the document that opposes the freedom of speech, which will
be signed by Sarkozy.
"The law adopted by the French Senate primarily opposes the freedom
of speech of French citizens. There are enough opponents of the false
"Armenian genocide" issue, which is on the agenda today. France was
recognized as the most democratic country in the world in which there
are no restrictions on free speech. Thus the law adopted by Senate
will primarily oppose the freedom of speech in the France itself."
APJ will hold a protest action in front of the French embassy in
Azerbaijan in protest against restrictions on freedom of opinion of
Azeri journalists.
