On the occasion of the Armenian Army Day, Defense Minister Seyran
Ohanyan has issued an address to the families of people who lost their
lives or went missing in the liberation fight for Nagorno-Karabakh
(Artsakh).
In his congratulatory message, the minister particularly says the
Armenian nation's sacrifices, devotion and efforts helped crown the
fight with success.
''Artsakh is liberated today; its population is protected. Armenia is
an independent state developing with slow though steady steps,'' reads
the address.
The minister notes that the war in Artsakh was a test for the Armenian
nation in terms of maintaining its dignity and leaving a better
protected homeland to the coming generations.
''Our people passed that test with honor, and that's first of all
thanks to your sons, fathers and brothers,' he says.
Praising feat of the soldiers who never returned from the battlefield,
the minister emphasizes that it is thanks to their selfless efforts
that the Armenian people now enjoy a peaceful in their native
homeland.
''Unfortunately, we did not manage to save the lives of your loved
ones, but today, respecting their memory and deeds, we are obliged to
celebrate the 20th birthday of the army which they created, loved and
cherished,'' Ohanyan adds.
