YEREVAN. - The companies importing goods to Armenia will no longer
have to attach the goods' excise tax labels abroad.
Pursuant to the changes made in Armenia's Law on Excise Tax, the excise
tax labels for cigars and up to 25-thousand bottles of alcoholic
beverages, which are imported into the country since January 2012,
are being attached in Armenia.
"The objective of the reforms being conducted in the [Armenian] customs
system is to create a more favorable environment and conditions for
the businessmen, [but] at the same time without relaxing the control,"
said Hayk Stepanyan, Head of the State Revenue Committee's Specialized
Customs Department for Excise Tax Taxable Goods.
In his words, the whole process is conducted under extreme supervision.
To note, the Department carefully follows the international
requirements, too.
