FUNERAL PROCESSION FOR VAHE AVETYAN

The funeral of Major Vahe Avetyan, an officer of the Armenian Armed
Forces, who was severely beaten on June 17 at Harsnakar Restaurant
owned by Ruben Hayrapetyan (a.k.a. Nemets Rubo), an MP of the ruling
Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), is due at 2:00 June 2.
The procession will start from 83 Dro str. and head to the cemetery in
Zeitun district. After the funeral, the participants of the procession
will head for the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"We, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, are no longer going
to tolerate the atmosphere of lawlessness and impunity and call upon
everyone concerned about the issue to join our move. We are the owners
of this country," said a public committee in charge of the funeral.
Vahe Avetyan was beaten to death by a large group of restaurant
employees and Hayrapetyan's personal bodyguards during a June 17
incident at the restaurant. He died in hospital 12 days later without
regaining consciousness.
