Expert: Armenians should be evacuated from Syria in the last resort only

At present the competent structures of Armenia are working out
several programs to support the Armenian community of Syria,
turcologist Rouben Melkonyan said at today's press conference.
According to him, the authorities of Armenia attentively follow the
developments in Syria. "The Armenian community has found itself in a
rather hard situation, and everything possible should be done to give
shelter to the Armenians from Syria as may be required. It's time for
Armenia to help Diaspora", the expert said.
In the meantime, he stressed that the Armenians should be evacuated
from Syria in the last resort only, because it is necessary to
preserve the Armenian community in that country.
To note, nearly 3,000 people already have died as a result of the
domestic political crisis in Syria. For 7 months the opposition has
demanded the resignation of President Assad and implementation of
democratic reforms in the country.
