President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message to the
President of the United States of America Barack Obama on the occasion
of Independence Day. The message reads:
`Your Excellency,
I cordially congratulate you and the friendly people of the United
States of America on the occasion of the Independence Day.
It is very encouraging to see that today the universal human values
proclaimed by the founding fathers of your country in the 18th century
are still vital, especially for those who continue to struggle for
independence, freedom, justice and equality.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between
Armenia and the United States. I have to proudly stress that our
relations have had an upward development in these twenty years and
reached their highest level ever. Of course, the ties between our
nations have a much longer history in which especially the
Armenian-American community has been playing a significant and visible
role creating strong bonds between us. As our countries embark on a
new decade of inter-state relations, we continue to remain committed
to developing comprehensive partnership and close relationship with
the United States.
The Armenian nation is grateful to the United States for its
multifaceted and continuous support since the restoration of Armenia's
independence. The efforts of your country towards the resolution of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are highly appreciated, too.
Congratulating once again on the occasion of the Independence Day, I
wish you and your people peace and prosperity.
Please accept, your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration'.
