While the Armenian parliament factions are meeting with the President
of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, over 200 people have
gathered in front of the National Assembly building demanding
involvement of owner of Harsnaqar restaurant complex Ruben Hayrapetyan
as a suspect in Harsnaqar beating case.
With posters in their hands, the people are demanding punishment to
all the guilty in the tragedy in Harsnaqar restaurant.
The participants of the protest rally consider Ruben Hayrapetyan's
resignation from parliament not enough and call to involve him in the
criminal case as a suspect and remove him from the post of the
chairman of the Armenian Football Federation.
`Ruben Hayraptyan's visit to presidential residence and the immediate
statement on vacating his seat in the parliament once again raises
concern over the mechanism on how decisions are being made in Armenia.
It is another attempt to suspend the wide-scale discussions over the
issue expected in the National Assembly,' the leaflet of the civil
initiative demanding punishment to all the guilty involved in
Harsnaqar tragedy says.
