Demanding to Name Ruben Hairapetyan As Suspect

The civic initiative `We Demand to Punish All Those Guilty for
Harsnakar' made a statement which in particular runs that on July 3,
in the result of pressure, Republican Ruben Hairapetyan stated to lay
down his parliamentary mandate due to the June 17 incident in
Harsnakar restaurant owned by the former MP where the military doctors
were beaten up severely, and Vahe Avetyan died on June 29 in hospital
from severe brain injury.
The fact that Ruben Hairapetyan visited the president's office and
announced about his resignation immediately makes us think about the
decision-making mechanisms in Armenia.
It is a fact that Ruben Hairapetyan's personal bodyguards were among
those who beat the doctors, so there are grounds to think that
Hairapetyan was in the restaurant and ordered his bodyguards to beat
the doctors.
The initiative demands to involve Ruben Hairapetyan as a suspect to
the case, as well as all the other persons involved in the incident,
dismiss Ruben Hairapetyan from the position of president of the
Football Federation of Armenia.
Today, a protest action will be held in front of the National Assembly
as the president of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy will
participate in the meeting of parliament.
