WAR IN SYRIA IS THE MAIN REASON OF MASS MIGRATION TO ARMENIA

The war in Syria will result in humanitarian catastrophe in the
country and become the main reason of mass migration to Armenia,
Director of the Caucasus Institute, Aleksandr Iskandaryan, said at
the Moscow-Yerevan televised bridge, 3 July.
"Development of the situation in Syria is very much important for
Armenia, as thousands of Syrians - ethnic Armenians have been living
there, which have been arriving in Armenia more and more often and
asking for citizenship. There number was 400 people in 2010, 3000 -
in 2011 and 2000 - in the first half of 2012. However, the number of
Syrian Armenians which arrived in Armenia unofficially is bigger", -
Iskandaryan said. He also added that the Syrian factor plays a great
part at the real estate market of Armenia. Growing of prices for the
real estate hits an ordinary citizen of Armenia in the pocket, he said.
For his part, political expert Ruben Safrastyan said that the Syrian
problem threatens the entire region and in case of serious military
actions, stability of the whole region will be broken. In this case
Syria may rely only on friendly relations with Iran as external forces
are interested in the power replacing in Syria. In this context, both
experts said that in case of Syria, Iran and Egypt, the USA plays a
great part, as it has its own energy interests and is interested in
the revolutions in these three countries.
