AYF Senior Olympics: Welcome to the New South Boston Waterfront

WATERTOWN, Mass. - We are just three short months away from the
79thannual AYF-YOARF Senior Olympic games, being held in Boston from
Aug. 30 through Sept. 3. In previous Olympics held in Boston, guests
stayed in the heart of the city, Boston's Back Bay; however, this
year, the Steering Committee selected the Westin Boston Waterfront
Hotel, which is located at the other end of the city. The hotel was
constructed only five years ago and is centered in the new and
upcoming South Boston Waterfront. The Westin will allow Olympics
visitors to experience an entirely new part of the city.

The Westin is next to the new Boston Convention Center and just one
block from the Waterfront; it's all about location, location,
location. It is situated less than three miles from Logan
International Airport and less than a mile from Boston's South Station
for those traveling by train. The Westin is also walking distance to
Faneuil Hall, the North End, and many new restaurants along Seaport
Boulevard and Fan Pier. One great excursion is to walk the Rose
Kennedy Greenway from Summer Street toward Quincy Market. At the end
of the Greenway is the new Armenian Heritage Park, which was just
dedicated in May. Once you arrive at the park, you can turn right to
go into the North End for a great selection of Italian food; turn left
for Quincy Market and plenty of tourist action.
If you are a person that likes to hang around the hotel then there is
plenty to do there as well. It is appointed with all the usual
amenities of high-class hotel, including a business center, swimming
pool, fitness center, high speed internet, and its own Starbucks. The
hotel can even provide loaner New Balance fitness gear for a fee. The
Westin has four great eateries on the property: Sauciety is a modern
American grill with a culinary twist. The second restaurant just off
the lobby is MJ O'Connor's Irish Pub, which has both outdoor and
indoor dining options. If you are more interested in just getting
reacquainted with old friends over drinks, consider the Birch Bar or
City Bar Boston. The Birch Bar is located on the lobby level of the
hotel and also has outdoor patio seating. The City Bar Boston, also on
the lobby level, offers a perfect spot for either casual or intimate
drinks.
Starting from Thurs., Aug. 30, the Olympic Steering Committee has
arranged for special room rates; king rooms are $149/night and double
rooms are $160/night (both plus taxes). Hotel reservations can be made
by calling the Westin (888-627-7115) or going to the AYF Olympics
website at www.ayfolympics.org. When calling the Westin, you must
mention the Armenian Youth Federation Annual Olympic Games to receive
the special rates.
