Azay Guliyev: `What are Armenian snipers doing in Azerbaijani lands?'

Nagorno Karabakh issue touched at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's session
Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA. `The unsettlement of Nagorno Karabakh
conflict cause the continuation of tension along the contact line of
troops and the region, said Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev at the 21st
session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly during the discussion of
Lithuanian MP Vilija Aleknaite Abramikiene's report named `OSCE -
Region of Change', APA reports.
In his speech, Guliyev said that the rapporteur touched on the
existing of unsettled and protracted conflicts in the OSCE region and
made efforts to cover the other important issues: `Mrs Vilija
Aleknaite Abramikiene is absolutely right that the unsettlement of
Nagorno Karabakh conflict causes the continuation of tension along the
contact line and in the region. As the first important step she
suggests to observe the ceasefire agreement withdraw the snipers. She
also asks for the carrying out of detailed research during the
incidents. Azerbaijan agrees with establishing the mechanism on
research of incidents in the contact line of troops. But logically,
this mechanism can have an effect after the withdrawal of Armenian
troops from our lands. If it happens, there will be no need for
snipers'.
Azerbaijani MP asked question `what are the Armenian snipers doing in
the Azerbaijani areas crossing from the contact line?'. According to
MP, the OSCE PA must announce to Armenia that it will not accept the
continuation of current status-quo and legalization of occupation: `It
must be noted again that Armenia violates seriously all international
conventions and legal norms by holding Azerbaijani areas under
occupation. Azerbaijan wants the peaceful settlement of Nagorno
Karabakh conflict within the international norms and we wait for the
same attitude from the opposite side'.
