YEREVAN. - The US dollar's exchange rate began losing ground in
Armenia's financial market, and it is weakening as quickly as it was
gaining strength in the country.
So, the US currency's average exchange rate against the Armenian Dram
(AMD) comprised AMD 415.06/$1, at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange
on Tuesday, as compared with Monday's AMD 418.25/$1.
Furthermore, the dollar was offered even lower than AMD 415/$1 at
the closing of the day's trading session.
And the total trading was $4.1 million.
The US dollar's exchange rate sharply declined in Armenia's cash
foreign currency market, too. The exchange offices began offering
it even at AMD 415.5/$1, in the case when they were buying it at AMD
417/$1 on Monday. For the most part, the American currency's buying
exchange rate dropped all the way to AMD 412-413/$1. And the next
anomaly occurred in Armenia's cash foreign currency market, when
one bank buys the dollar at an exchange rate that is higher than the
neighboring bank's selling rate.
