ARMENIAN SURB PRKICK HOSPITAL CONTINUES TO BE ONE OF THE LEADING ONES IN ISTANBUL

YEREVAN, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Surb Prkich hospital built over
two centuries ago in Turkey, currently is operating by the efforts
of Armenian community. As Armenpress reports citing Turkish Aksam
newspaper, Armenian hospital serves the need not only of Armenians
but various nations representatives.
At the course of the exposition dedicated to the 180 th anniversary of
Hospital Foundation Grigor Doshemechyan , Armenian Foundation Board
member had a briefing with the journalist. The interlocutor reminded
that the hospital continues its activities mainly due to the Armenian
community junctions and stated '~Rwe are striving to keep our national
identity and simultaneously adopt to rapidly developing technological
innovations. "
75 mentally retarded patients are currently receiving treatment in
hospital, as well as drug addicted children. The hospital has hosted
over 350 people free of charge in the old people nursing home. A
large garden was founded in Surb Prkich yard aimed at ensuring the
patients with fresh air.
Armenian Surb Prkich had great role in the development of medicine
in Turkey. One of the first surgeries has been established just in
this hospital, as well as first X-ray equipment has been installed
here. It is known that one of the leading physicians of the hospital
treated Napoleon 3 rd.
