ARMENIA TO CONSIDER JOINING CIS FREE TRADE ZONE IN SEPTEMBER

The Armenian parliament will consider ratification of the CIS free
trade zone agreement in September, Chairman of the Federation Council
of Russia Valentina Matviyenko said after a meeting with Armenian
President Serzh Sargsyan, News Armenia reports.
Ratification was initiated after formation of the new parliament.
The parliament will also consider ratification of the protocol
on military bases of members of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization (CSTO). Armenia wants Russia to build the second block
of the Armenian nuclear power plant.
The CIS free trade agreement was signed by Russia, Armenia, Belarus,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine on October 18,
2011. Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expressed willingness to
consider joining in. The deal simplifies trade and boosts integration
processes, based on the norms of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It
will replace numerous bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements.
