ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJANI CONTACT LINE SITUATION URGENT FOR OSCE MINSK GROUP

Yerevan, July 11, Armenpress: OSCE Minsk Group has manifested a great
activity in the beginning of the year in finding a solution to Nagorno-
Karabakh conflict. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of the Republic of Armenia in France, Henry Reno, briefed this in
the meeting with the journalists on July 11, Armenpress reports.
"Paris has recently hosted the foreign ministers of Armenia and
Azerbaijan. For that occasion during the Great Twenty summit the
co-chair countries issued a joint statement. Reportedly OSCE co-chairs
and OSCE chairperson-in office are in the South Caucasus at the same
time ", Reno noted.
To his word such a working timetable is to outline the importance
given to the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict settlement. The Minsk Group
co-chairs are trying to speed up the process. The events taking place
in the contact are also urgent. "They are working on establishing
contacts between the societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is
diplomatically called "people with people". Both sides fully agreed
that the Minsk Group co-chairs continue to fulfill their mission",
the ambassador stated.
OSCE Secretary- General Lamberto Zannier visited Armenia on July 11,
on the same day the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Robert Bradtke (USA),
Jacques Faure (France), Igor Popov (Russia) and Personal representative
of OSCE chairman-in-office Andrzej Kasprzyk crossed the contact line
between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan and visited Stepanakert,
then Yerevan, where the OSCE Secretary -General briefings with the
president of Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the president of
the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan and Foreign Affairs Minister
Edward Nalbandyan are scheduled to be held.Zannier has already visited
Georgia and Azerbaijan within his regional visit.
