SEYRAN OHANYAN MET THE NEWLY-APPOINTED IRANIAN AMBASSADOR

YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS: Defence minister of the Republic
of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan on July 12 held a meeting with the
newly-appointed Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of
Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Mohammad Raiesi.
Armenpress was informed from Information and public relations
department of Armenian Defence Ministry that Armenian Minister
congratulated the ambassador on the occasion of holding the diplomatic
mission in Armenia and wished successes in the sphere of developing
Armenian-Iranian relations.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues relating to multilateral
cooperation of Armenia and Iran as well as regional problems and
conflicts' settlement.
Despite religious and ideological differences, relations between
Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran remain extremely cordial and
both Armenia and Iran are strategic partners in the region. Armenia
and Iran enjoy cultural and historical ties that go back thousands
of years. There are no border disputes between the two countries and
the Christian Armenian minority in Iran enjoys official recognition.
