319 PERSONS IN ARMENIA ARE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING SO FAR IN 2012

YEREVAN. - As of the first six months of 2012, Armenia's Police held
319 persons to criminal account for drug addiction, and illegal
trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their
precursors.
According to the data by the Police Department on Fight Against Illicit
Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, 64 of these persons are previously
convicted, 11 are foreign nationals, 18 are women, and one of them
is a minor.
A total of 94 people are held to criminal account, and 16 of them
are former offenders.
And in line with the Healthcare Ministry's Narcological Clinic data,
3,867 persons are recorded in Armenia, as of January 1, 2012, with
symptoms of drug addiction.
