PRESIDENT DISSATISFIED WITH POLICE

Today Serzh Sargsyan took part in the RA police board meeting where
the results of activities of the police in the first half of 2012
were discussed, the information office of the president administration
informed.
He noted that he expects more zeal and fast progress especially from
external services, traffic police and the passport and visa department
as he has recently seen reports on the latter two, and short-term
improvements are made which last for a month at best.
President Sargsyan noted that he cannot understand the activities of
the internal security service, as he knows there is such a service
but he cannot remember a case when someone was held responsible for a
case investigated by the internal security service. He questions the
existence of a service which cannot reveal at least one case in a year.
He also expressed concerns over the investigation of criminal cases,
describing it as the weakness of the police. "There is not a person
who enjoys impunity. It is fairy tales that one defends the other,
this one has immunity. These are invented by weak people, weak
policemen to justify their inaction. There are no such people. The
offender must be punished. This is our approach," the president said.
