Turnout in Nagorno-Karabakh presidential polls exceeds 73%
YEREVAN. July 20
Polling stations have closed in Nagorno-Karabakh in the
self-proclaimed republic's presidential election.
The Central Elections Commission has put the turnout at 73.42%, or
72,833 of the 99,190 eligible voters.
The preliminary results will be announced by 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, the
commission told Interfax.
Contesting the top post were the incumbent President Bako Saakian,
National Assembly deputy Vitaly Balasanian, Assistant Director of the
Stepanakert branch of the Yerevan State Agrarian University Arkady
Sogomonian.
Saakian and Balasanian were regarded as top favorites.
