In January-June, 2012 birth rate exceeds death rate by 1.9 times. Thus
we have an increase by 596 people. As compared to the indicator of
the past year, the birth rate has increased in Martakert and Askeran
regions. It has decreased in Stepanakert and the other regions.
Instead, death cases have also decreased as compared to the past year.
"Over the past years, in Artsakh more boys are born than girls. The
boys make up 53.5% of the new born babies in the reporting period,"
the head of the division of the National Statistical Service of
Socio-Demographic and Labour Market Statistics of the NKR Lilia
Petrosyan said.
In the first half of 2012, unlike the same period of the past year,
more than half of the newborn babies were born in rural settlements.
The age of 74,1% of those, who died in the mentioned period, was
above 70. Illnesses connected with blood circulation continue to be
dominating among the death reasons. Tumors are in the second place,
the percentage of which has increased by accordingly more than 3
percent as against last year's indicator.
The difference between the officially registered comers into the
republic and emigrants is also positive in the mentioned period. The
growth makes up 186 people, which is by 13,4% greater than last
year's indicator.
