The joint initiative of Orange Foundation and the Armenian Eye Care
Project (AECP) implemented in Syunik region in July came to its end.
The initiative aimed at organizing free eye screenings for the
population of the region, as well as treatments for socially vulnerable
people.
In the scope of the initiative 2,000 adults have undergone eye
screening in their regional medical centres, 400 out of which have
undergone thorough screening in Mobile Eye Hospital (MEH) and 940
glasses have been provided. 200 eye surgeries and laser treatments
have been realized in MEH.
"Completing our mission in Syunik region, with joy we assert that
jointly with the Armenian Eye Care Project we could be helpful to
many people and bring sight to their eyes. As a telecommunication
operator our mission is to facilitate communication between people,
therefore, communication impairments have always been in the centre of
our attention and people with such impairments under the care of Orange
Foundation. With joy we assert that our partnership will be ongoing
and this initiative will be implemented in other regions as well,
as it brings real changes into people's life," said Bruno Duthoit,
Chairman of the Board of Orange Foundation.
"We are pleased to note that it is already the 9th year that this
initiative "Bringing Sight to Armenian Eyes" has become something of
a regular nature for the considerable bulk of the population of the
country. In the scope of this initiative we have already realized and
will continue realizing eye screenings and treatments for population.
Our partnership with Orange Foundation is of great importance for us,
as this partnership gives us the possibility to develop larger scale
activities. It is not a mere action. It is an important possibility to
provide quality eye care services to our population. We are happy to
have Orange as our partner in Syunik as well," said Nune Yeghiazaryan,
Country Director of the Armenian Eye Care Project.
Orange Foundation has allotted 7,300,000 AMD for implementation of
this initiative in Syunik region.
It is worth adding that in partnership with Orange Foundation AECP
will carry out its activities in Armavir region in September-October.
Additional information on this will follow later.
