The lawmakers of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D) are not going to participate in
the scheduled voting to elect a National Assembly speaker and vice
speakers.
"Considering the bitter experience of the past, we are hopeful you
will do everything possible to ensure observance of the NA Rules of
Procedure," Armen Roustamyan of the ARF-D faction in parliament told
the newly elected lawmakers on Thursday.
Addressing the parliament, Edward Sharmazanov of the ruling Republican
Party faction said that their only candidate for parliament speaker,
Hovik Abrahamyan, is experienced enough to work effectively in the
position.
The voting which started minutes ago is to finish in about an hour.
Under the National Assembly's Rules of Procedures, a candidate is
considered elected in case of receiving 1/3 of votes.
