The Armenian authorities must demand clarifications from US Secretary
of State Hilary Clinton on the US stance on the possible normalization
of the Armenian-Turkish relations and the settlement of the Karabakh
conflict, Head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF)
Bureau's Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan told a
press conference today.
"They must clarify whether Washington considers that the Karabakh
conflict should be solved on the basis of the right of peoples to
self-determination or territorial integrity as it was mentioned in
the recent NATO declaration," Manoyan said.
According to him, the mediating countries understand that the Karabakh
issue remains unsettled because of Azerbaijan's position. The main
task of the Co-Chairs is to reduce the possibility of war, he said.
Kiro Manoyan considers that the United States should exert pressure
on Turkey for freezing the process of normalization of relations with
Armenia. "Official Ankara must be forced to establish relations with
Armenia without preconditions and we must suggest this to Clinton,"
Manoyan said.
