SWITZERLAND SECOND COUNTRY ON INVESTMENTS VOLUMES IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN. - The flow of investments in Armenia made $148.7 million from
January to March, which is increase by 13.9 percent, as compared to
the same period of last year, Armenian National Statistical Service
reports. According to the report, main investing countries in Armenian
economy include Russia, Switzerland and France.
Russia is the greatest investing country with $26.6 million for the
first quarter of this year. Majority of the investments amounting
to $22.8 million was in the field of telecommunications (two out of
three mobile operators in Armenia, including ArmenTel and VivaCell
operate based on the Russian capital).
As for Switzerland, the country occupies the second place on
investments for the first time. The Swiss RARE SA Company has invested
$20.5 million in constructing a plant of fresh and mineral drinking
waters in Artavaz village of Armenia's Kotayk Region. The real owner
of the company is a Saudi sheikh.
