If the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) decides to get
involved in the peace-making mission in Syria, it will actually be an
agreement with international agencies, the expert Artsrun Hovhannisyan
told Tert.am.
"The CSTO and NATO may form a joint peace-making mission to put an
end to the civil war in Syria," he said.
"Otherwise, if the CSTO and NATO forces enter the country from opposite
directions, it will certainly be war," Hovhannisyan said, theorizing.
The political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told Tert.am he does
not think the CSTO peace-making forces are likely to enter Syria. In
this context he pointed out a number of military tasks within the CSTO.
"For example, it may be an Armenian-Azerbaijani war. I do not
think CSTO peace-makers' involvement in Syria is likely. It was
nothing but a political discussion proposed by Russian experts,"
Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
