Tigran Sargsyan appointed as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia

In line with Article 55.4 of the Constitution of the Republic of
Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan appointed Tigran Sargsyan as Prime
Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
Before that his candidacy was discussed at the sittings of the
Executive Body and the Board of the Party. Tigran Sargsyan's candidacy
was unanimously confirmed.
The government program will be discussed at the National Assembly this
month. The issue of ministerial portfolios was not discussed during
today's sittings, Spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia,
Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Edward Sharmazanov told
reporters.
No major changes are expected in the government. According to
Sharmazanov, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Emergency
Situations will be reappointed in the coming days. The Ministers of
Education and Science is also likely to keep his office, the Spokesman
said.
PM Tigran Sargsyan noted, in turn, that the government will present
its program to the National Assembly within ten days. According to
him, the program will be based on the election platform of the
Republican Party of Armenia.
Tigran Sargsyan said he regrets that Prosperous Armenia Party will not
participate in the formation of the coalition government.
