CLINTON: UNITED STATES SUPPORTS ARMENIA

The information office of the president informs that Serzh Sargsyan
met with U.S. Secretary Hillary Clinton who has arrived in Armenia
for a working visit.
Greeting the guest, the head of state particularly said she is
always welcome to Armenia indeed. Noting that this year is the 20th
anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the United
States and Armenia, President Sargsyan underlined that in the past 20
years our relations developed upward and today we are on a historic
high level. Certainly, he said, the relations of our peoples have a
longer history, and good relations were promoted by the relations
of our peoples, the big Armenian community in the United States,
and the ideas of freedom, justice and democracy.
He hailed our relations always built on mutual respect and confidence
and sincere discussion of every issue of mutual interest. We highly
appreciate the role of the United States in our region.
I would like to thank you once again for the assistance of the United
States to Armenia in the past 20 years, president Sargsyan said.
The U.S. Secretary said she is honored to be back to Armenia in the
year of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. She said the
United States appreciates highly their partnership with Armenia and
continue to support the development and welfare of Armenia and its
people. Mrs. Clinton said President Obama and she appreciate our
interaction, and agreed that the interaction has been very sincere,
which is typical of friends. She acknowledges the diligence of the
president of Armenia in seeking solutions of regional issues.
Secretary Clinton stated their expectation to continue the dialogue
and their commitment to support and assist Serzh Sargsyan's activities
as an excellent leader.
She said they are happy to find bright sunny weather in Armenia after
their trip to Arctic and far north.
