YEREVAN. - The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit
to Armenia on Monday ended with a joint press conference with the
Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian.
In his speech Nalbandian stressed the U.S. and world community
fully supports Armenia's approaches in two directions, including
Nagorno-Karabakh peace process talks and normalization process of
the Armenian-Turkish relations.
Regarding the contact line incidents, Clinton expressed her regret
and concern on Azerbaijani repeated diversions on that day. In this
context, the U.S. Secretary of State re-confirmed that Karabakh
conflict settlement will require no use of force. Moreover, she
stated once again that the conflict settlement lies within the three
principles, including non-use of force or its threat, territorial
integrity and people's right to self-determination, and prioritizing
or lacking any of these approaches separately is unacceptable.
Another important message referred to normalization process of the
Armenian-Turkish relations. Clinton confirmed in her speech that
the United States support the normalization process without any
pre-conditions. Moreover, she stated that the Karabakh peace process
and the ratification of protocols [to normalize bilateral relations]
with Turkey are two separate processes.
The United States, through is high ranking official, claimed once
again its support to Armenia's approaches regarding regional problems,
which can be considered as diplomatic armament of Armenia by the
United States.
