50,000 VEHICLES STILL DO NOT HAVE AUTO INSURANCE IN ARMENIA THIS YEAR

YEREVAN. - A total of 341,800 vehicles have auto insurance contracts
in Armenia as of May 1, 2012, the Auto Insurers' Bureau informs.
A total of 5,200 automobiles likewise were insured in one month,
but the total number of insured vehicles is about 50,000 less, as
compared with late 2011.
The total auto insurance payments made up close to AMD 9 billion
(approx. US$ 22,043,062) as of May 1, that is, the auto insurance
companies additionally collected around AMD 500 million (approx.
$1,224,615) in April.
According to statistics, a total of 14,770 road accidents occurred
in Armenia in the past four months, but this number dropped in April,
with 2,962.
On the average, the auto insurance companies pay about AMD 200,000
(approx. $490) for each accident.
