POLITICAL SCIENTIST DOES NOT LOOK FORWARD TO GRAVE CHANGES AFTER CLINTON'S VISIT

    ARMENPRESS

    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, JUNE 5, ARMENPRESS: USA Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's
visit to Armenia was due to some political interests in the region
and at the level of some local issues. Politician scientist Hrant
Ter- Shahnazaryan had a briefing with the journalists on June 5,
    Armenpress reports.

" For her the priorities were the interests of the USA and not the
regional issues. It mostly refers to the latest developments in
Iran ahead of the elections. In the words of the Melik Shahnazaryan
official Washington is trying to understand what expectations it can
    have in this region.

USA is trying to put emphasis on the regulation of Turkish-Armenian
relations, considering Turkey would remain convenient ally in the
region." USA needs mechanisms to subdue Turkey's activation and
Armenian Cause is an appropriate tool. That's why USA pays attention
to those relations. Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a serious problem
for the USA, because Washington wants to see secure region, the
political scientist came forth. In his words global changes should
not be expected after Secretary's visit to the region.

Clinton's visit was short term; reportedly current problems have
been coordinated before the meeting of officials, so the duration of
her visit was fully sufficient for the discussion of the issues of
    Armenian concern.

USA Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived Yerevan on June 4. She
had meetings with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign
    Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandyan.
