Baku. Parvin Abbasov - APA. "I consider that the visit of the US
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the South Caucasian countries
will be significant for peace, tranquility and security in the region.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to this visit, because today
Azerbaijan is the main country for East-West, North-South corridor.
It is impossible to implement any project in the region without
Azerbaijan's participation. In this context I consider that the
negotiations and discussions held during the meeting strengthen
Azerbaijan's position", Deputy Executive Secretary of the New
Azerbaijan Party (YAP), MP Mubariz Gurbanli told YAP's website,
APA reports.
Gurbanli said that Hillary Clinton's visit to the South Caucasian
countries is due to the issues related to the US policy pursued
in this region. Reminding about the Clinton's visit to Armenia and
Georgia, Gurbanli said that the US relations with these countries
were discussed at the meetings: "The US Secretary of State will pay
the next visit to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan-US relations cover several
spheres. The energy security, regional cooperation, joint activity
in accordance with the interests of the US and Azerbaijan, at the
same time the economic interests of the United States in this region
and the other issues are among them. The US and Azerbaijan have very
serious energy cooperation. Azerbaijan is very important country in
the Caspian basin. Certainly, all these led US to give special place
to Azerbaijan within its South Caucasus policy. It is important to
note that the most serious topic of discussions during the Clinton's
visit to the South Caucasus is Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh
conflict. When she was in Yerevan she held discussions about this
issue. These discussions will be in the special spotlight in Baku. The
US Secretary of State will be informed about the President Ilham
Aliyev's position concerning the settlement of the conflict. The US
is the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair and leading country in the world".
