On the one hand, Armenia is under a blockade by Turkey and Azerbaijan,
and, on the other hand, the international sanctions against Iran hinder
the diversification of our economy, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan said
in Brussels while responding to the questions posed by European,
Turkish and Azerbaijani political scientists, journalists and analysts.
And in response to an Azerbaijani analyst's question as to why Armenia
conditions domestic reforms and fighting corruption on relations with
Turkey, Sargsyan stated:
"This means we use large resources for guaranteeing our country's
security and diversification of the economy. Reforms mean a change in
people's conduct; this means serious efforts so that the authorities
could make these changes.
Unfortunately, we use these resources for other purposes, and Turkey
knows this very well and that is why it continues with its blockade.
They say they continue with this blockade because friendly Azerbaijan
will incorrectly comprehend the bettering of their relations with
Armenia.
So, there is a link between reforms and the geopolitical situation."
