PRESIDENT SARGSYAN MEETS WITH THE SPEAKER OF JAPAN'S HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

President Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with the Speaker of the House
of Representatives of Japan, Takahiro Yokomichi.
The interlocutors congratulated each other on the occasion of the
20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between
Armenia and Japan.
Speaker Yokomichi voiced hope that President Serzh Sargsyan's
official visit would give new impetus to the deepening of political
and economic relations between the two countries and reinforcement
of parliamentary ties.
Takahiro Yokomichi expressed gratitude to the Armenian President for
visiting the disaster zone to meet those who suffered as a result of
the tsunami. He said Japan has not forgotten the assistance rendered
by Armenia immediately after the 2011 disaster and expressed gratitude
to the Armenian people, who have survived a similar tragedy.
President Sargsyan underlined that Armenia is interested in developing
the relations with Japan and expressed gratitude for the assistance
provided to Armenia ever since the establishment of diplomatic
relations.
The interlocutors attached importance to the cooperation between
Armenia and Japan within international organizations.
Within the framework of the visit President Sargsyan visited the
Toshiba Science Museum, where he was briefed on the 130-year history
of the famous Toshiba Company, its activity and production.
President Serzh Sargsyan is scheduled to meet with Japan's Prime
Minister today.
