ANC OF EUROPE CONDEMNS AZERI ATTACKS

    Asbarez
    Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

    EAFJD president Kaspar Karampetian

STRASBOURG-In the early hours of June 4, Azerbaijani forces attacked
the region of Tavush, in North-Eastern Armenia, which has resulted in
3 deaths and 6 injuries of Armenian soldiers. Armenian armed forces
have managed to push back the attack and re-establish peace.

It is important to note that a OSCE Minsk group co-chair country's
Foreign Minister, Hillary Rodham Clinton of the United States of
America, had a scheduled visit in the region only a few hours later,
to strengthen cooperation and peace in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy strongly
condemns this new attack escalating in dangerously high levels,
threatening regional peace and the European initiatives, especially
European Neighborhood Policy - East and the EURONEST, which are
planned to ensure regional cooperation. Azerbaijan's increasing
armament and violations of international law threaten the regional
    peace and stability.

"Azerbaijan's attack against Armenia is a proof, that this country
is not interested in peace, and carrying such an attack hours only
before an OSCE Minsk group co-chair country, U.S. Foreign Minister
Hillary Clinton's visit, displays the real intent, that of war,
of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev," said European Armenian
    Federation's President, Kaspar Karampetian.

"We demand from the European Union, to no longer to call on both
parties to show restrain, but strongly condemn the Azeri leadership,
demanding a stop to their war mongering and adventure," said
    Karampetian.

"Mrs. Catherine Ashton, the European Commission's Vice-president and
High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has to
condemn Azerbaijan's attitude, which threatens regional peace. She
has to make clear to the Azerbaijani government, that the EU is not
only interested in energy, but mainly peace and stability, and that
this could have serious effects on the EU - Azerbaijan Association
    Agreements discussions," concluded Karampetian.
