ARMENIA'S PARLIAMENT SPEAKER MEETS CHINESE AMBASSADOR

Newly elected Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamian met Chinese
Ambassador to Armenia Tian Changchun on Wednesday, the National
Assembly press office said.
Tian passed a message to Abrahamian from Wu Bangguo, chairman
of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress,
congratulating him on his election as speaker of the National Assembly.
Tian also noted that this year marked the 20th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and China and
presented Abrahamian a book on the relationship.
Abrahamian, who was named speaker by the newly elected parliament
on Thursday, highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation and
friendly relations with China in various fields.
Armenia elected a new parliament on May 6. The government is still
being formed, although the prime minister and key ministers have
already been appointed by President Serzh Sargsian.
