Armenian first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan will not run for
presidency, Alexander Arzumanyan, member of Free Democrats party,
told the reporters today, adding that it is just his opinion.
He said they have not discussed nomination of a candidate from their
party, adding that in case of nomination of Raffi Hovhannissyan,
leader of opposition Heritage party, Free Democrats will back him.
"I do not think any other member of Heritage will be nominated. But
if it happens we will discuss the issue," he said.
Speaking about united opposition candidate, he said it is difficult
to predict as of the moment, though did not rule out the possibility.
Referring to the newly-elected parliament, Alik Arzumanyan noted
that they are not satisfied with the outcome of the elections, and
will try to influence on the legislative initiatives together with
other opposition forces, coming forth with initiatives stemming from
interests of the people.
"It is necessary to cooperate with all. We are cooperating over an
idea, and not with a person. But first of all we will cooperate with
the ANC and the ARF-D," Arzumanyan said.
