YEREVAN, JUNE 11, ARMENPRESS: During discussions over the Armenian
Genocide due in Israel's parliament - Knesset, representatives of that
country's government will have to answer questions of MPs concerning
the issue.
Hakob Sevan, representative of the Armenian Cause Jerusalem Office,
told Armenpress that from the very beginning there was a fear that
keeping the issue on the agenda of the Knesset
Committee for Education, the discussion of the latter could be
protracted, which was mainly conditioned by Israel's issues of home
politics.
"No document will be adopted as a result of the discussions; just
answers and questions. Our main task will be to draw the attention of
Israel's government and society to the genocide issue," Mr Sevan noted.
Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin allowed extending public discussions on
the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the Armenian genocide June 17.
