YEREVAN. - The population status of birds in Armenia has improved due
to creation of additional water reserves, the chairperson of Armenia's
Birth Watching Society (BWS) Silva Adamyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to her, this first of all concerns the avifauna of Lake
Sevan. As the water level rises, the number of bird nests also grows.
Swamps are formatting around the lake due to which the number of birds
inhabiting swamp areas increases. The reduction of green territories,
though, is troublesome. Because of the reduction of shadow areas,
food supply is reduced for some birds.
