RECTOR OF ARMENIAN TOURISM INSTITUTE: ONLY PERSONNEL WITH NEW MENTALITY CAN DEVELOP THIS BRANCH

The personnel which have been thinking in a new way should be prepared
and should create new tourist products so that to reach the goals put
by the state strategic programme for tourism development in Armenia,
Rector of Yerevan Tourism Institute (branch of Russian International
Academy of Tourism), director of Yerevan International Business-School
for Hotels and Tourism Management Vatel (a member of the Vatel net,
International Business School Hotel & Tourism Management), Robert
Minasyan, said at today's press-conference. He recalled, that according
to the programme, by 2030 up to 3 mln tourists should visit the country
every year, the number of local tourists should be 1,5 mln people.
Minasyan thinks that sharp improvement of the situation in the sphere
of tourism and scientific approach to demonstration of the tourist
potential of Armenia (in particular, archaeological finds) may promote
the visit to Armenia of up to 350 thsd tourists every year. This will
make it possible to get up to $1 billion extra profits. He also added
that to reach this we should implement purposeful marketing in the
countries the population of which travel most of all - Germany, the
USA, Russia, France, Italy, China, India, Japan and Iran, as well as
work with targeted groups of potential tourists from these countries.
He especially emphasized the necessity of Armenian tour operators
working in Russia, as in 2011 this country occupied the third place
by the number of foreign trips - 44 mln Russian tourists left for
abroad in 2011 and spent $13 mln.
According to the official statistics, 757,9 thsd tourists visited
Armenia in 2011.
