YEREVAN. - If Armenian business environment improves, American
businessmen will make large investments in Armenia, the U.S.
Ambassador John Heffern said in Yerevan on Thursday.
During the conference on competitiveness, limits and solutions, one
of the participants asked how much the competitiveness environment
promotes for foreign investments in Armenia. In response Ambassador
said that many Americans had carried out serious projects by repairing
monuments and churches in Armenia, however, investment activity is
not so large.
The main obstacle is non-predictability, non-clarity, especially in
the tax and customs field. Besides, American companies underscore
the importance of rule of the law.
