Italian mountaineer `follows the tracks' of Ararat and Noah's Ark

YEREVAN, JUNE 16, ARMENPRESS: Italian Geographical Company on the
initiative of the Armenian Embassy in Italy has organized presentation
of `Ararat: On the Tracks of Noah's Ark' book authored by Italian
mountaineer Tito De Luca.
Armenian's Ambassador to Italy Ruben Karapetyan noted that this
initiative is dedicated to a very interesting topic, which is of great
significance not only for Armenian people, but whole mankind as well,
Foreign Affairs Ministry press service told Armenpress.
He stressed that many know the Biblical history of Noah's Ark, which
after the Great Flood came to rest at Mount Ararat.
But few know that Ararat is in the heart of historical Armenia.
According to the ambassador, the event gains importance especially
today, when the policy of distorting the history by some neighbors of
Armenia and stealing the elements of Armenian culture and presenting
as their own has got a amore aggressive character.
He expressed confidence that similar events promote publicizing
information about Armenian civilization, and appear the best means not
to let further historical speculations.
The event will take place in Villa Celimontana, historical residence
of the Italian Geographical Company. Ambassadors accredited in Italy,
numerous representatives of cultural and scientific circles, Italian
press and Armenian community will participate in the noteworthy event.
